2007 Girl Scout Cookie Sale
Program Goals: The Girl Scout Cookie Sale is one of the best ways for girls to learn and practice the ideals that are at the core of Girl Scouting - developing self-potential, relating to others, developing values, and contributing to society. Girls who are active participants in the Girl Scout Cookie Sale learn and practice:Responsibility Gathering orders, getting the information to the troop leader on time, and delivering to customers.
Communication Talking to customers; telling them about the cookies, explaining how the funds will be used, answering their questions, and thanking them.
Math Skills Adding up orders, knowing how to make change, and how much money is owed for cookies sold. Goal Setting and Planning Determining how many cookies to sell to meet troop and individual goals and brainstorming selling strategies. Honesty and Integrity Handling money and turning it in to the troop leader on time.
Contributing to the good of others Selling benefits the troop as well as the council by raising the funds necessary to provide Girl Scout program and through participation in the Gift of Caring Service Project. These are just a few of the values and skills girls learn and practice through their participation in the Girl Scout Cookie Sale. Who knows what your Girl Scout may gain - she may overcome her shyness, increase her self-esteem by meeting her personal cookie goal, or discover a love of sales - the possibilities seem endless. Ask your Girl Scout’s troop leader for more information on the upcoming sale and how you can help girls learn the valuable skills that are gained through participation in the Girl Scout Cookie Sale.
